INTAKE, DIAGNOSTIC & CLASSIFICATION CENTER
AGUADILLA, PUERTO RICO

This
project consists of facilities such as Sentencing
Housing Complex, Pre-trial Housing Building, Programs & Services
for the Inmate Building (Classification, Administration/Visiting),
Intake & Release Building, and Medical Admissions
Clinic (Diagnostics). This compound
includes a perimeter double-security fence, visitor
and staff parking área,
as well as a secure vehicular loading area. The Sentenced
Housing Complex is made up of three buildings with 120
double occupancy pods, a day room, shower, janitor facilities
and administrative offices. All buildings are provided
with an automatic sprinkler system. The Programs & Services
for the inmates building, the Intake/Release
Building and the Medical Admissions Clinic
are provided with
a fully equipped air conditioning system.

VETERANS
OUTPATIENT CLINIC

The
focus of this project was the provision of a facility
to accommodate 273,000 outpatient visits projected and
to function as a separate entity from in-patient care
at the Medical Center, yet be physically attached to
allow sharing of support services and staff. Site related
deficiencies were addressed in the project by providing
a parking structure and new site vehicular circulation.
The new facilities consisted of a two-story structure
with approximately 84,000 SF at ground level and 153,000
SF at the entrance level, with the ground level serving
as utilities areas and parking for individuals with disabilities.

The
design program for this school included the architectural
and structural rehabilitation of the existing school
as well as a new building adjacent to the existing
facilities. The new building will house new cafeteria,
science laboratories, multipurpose rooms, and classrooms.
A new passive recreation area and outdoor dining
plaza will be incorporated as part of the design
program. The main entrance canopy was designed as
an axis element to connect all access corridors.
